I was contact by Client to repair 3 laptops. I work a very tight schedule and I’m living paycheck to paycheck. When I take time out of my guaranteed income, I take a big risk. The issues defined were a loose hard drive, a broken LCD, and a broken power socket for a laptop. I have not seen these machines yet, this is based off of Client’s provided information.
After setting a date for drop-off, the following exchange occurs:
Me: Good morning. I have a slot available for drop-off @ 12PM to 1PM, during my lunch break. I work at home so I can meet you outside my house. Please respond when you can if this is agreeable to you.
Client: Sorry my wife took the laptops to her friend to repair.
Me: That’s alright. If they can’t fix it, then you know where to find me. I have another drop-off slot from 4PM – 6PM if you still need my services. I can guarantee that screen is going to be hard to replace though, and wish you luck in your future endeavors. Feel free to message me at any time if you acquire any further assistance.
Admittedly, I’m fuming by this point. I had cut 2 parts of my day (44$ of guaranteed income!) for a job that didn’t show up.
