A neighbor about a block away asked if I could help him setup a website for his small business. I was reluctant because he was kind of creepy and would stare at me at neighborhood events. But I needed some freelance work in-between corporate gigs.

I did a lot of work, and at the end he asked how much he owed me. With the amount of hours, stock photography and revisions that he wanted it was going to be $500. He then wrote me check for $375.

Me: “This is $125 short, we agreed on my hourly wage and you saw the costs of hardware. Is there a problem?”

Client: “Oh, no problem, I figure since you jogged here everyday that I saved you money on gas, so that is at least a $150 discount.”

Me: Then what is the $25 for?”

Client:  “Because I got to watch you jog here everyday”
