I sent a sketch of the design I am making for a client’s business card. In the email, I asked questions about the composition, what images they want included, and how detailed they want things to be drawn.
Client: I don’t care. I want you to do it. You are capable enough.
Me: Are you sure? It would be really useful if I had some insight into what exactly you were looking for.
Client: Yes. I want you to decide.
To be sure, this is followed by several important questions on my behalf, such as ‘Where do you want the figures?’ ‘How simply do you want the figures to be drawn?’ ‘What font do you want me to use?’, all answered with a short ‘I want you to decide.’
I draw the design and send it over.
Client: This isn’t what I had in mind at all.
