While working on a promotional copy deck, I was asked by the client to use fewer hyphens as she thougth they were ‘ugly’ and 'unneccesary’. Unfortunately for her, the main focus of the copy was 'Spider-man’…
I know we need to pay you the 30% up front before you start; but if you could just start now as we need to show progress pretty quickly and we’ll get you the advance within 2 weeks or so.
I was working on an identity for a client and we where discussing paper for their stationery. I had made recommendations and the client called to ask me to email him a sample of the paper so he can feel it. After 2 minutes of arguing that I cannot email a physical sample, the client said “Ok, fine. If you can’t email it, then at least fax it to me.”.
“Can you please burn us a copy of all the things that you have done for us in a CD again? I forgot where I placed it”
(5 copies of CD have been passed to the client on different occasions).
I need a website, FAST. I want it set up so that I can add, edit, and delete content when I need to and I need it done as soon as possible. How do we go doing thist? It should not cost that much, as there are so many free websites available these days.
Client (after watching a letterboxed video): What are those black lines at the top an bottom of the picture… is that some kind of abstract design statement?
Client about his brochure cover: The background is dusk, right? Can you change it to dawn? Dusk is like.. the time demons come out or something…
I completed a weeks worth of concept work for a client who told me she wanted a complete refresh of her current look and feel. The work included Rebranding, Packaging, Advertising Support material and In-store Point of Sale.
I presented the concepts, paid for the coffee, She loved the concepts, although pointed out that she wasn’t sure about the font “Helvetica”. She then told me she did a 2 week calligraphy course so knows all about typography. She then explained at the end of the meeting that she didn’t have any money and her business would go under if she didn’t sell XXXX amount of products within a month. She then asked if she could take the work with her on a usb key so she could get an opinion from another designer she was talking too and she finally asked if I could design the signage for the new VW Van she had just bought.
She left the meeting, and I never saw her again.
Client: We love our new building and we thought it would be great to have pictures of it in all four seasons from the exact same angle.
Photographer: That sounds like a really cool project.
Client: Great! So what are the chances having those ready for our convention next month?
After presenting a new design for a company website, the owner leaned over, asked if she could suggest some changes to the layout, got out a black marker and started drawing the changes on my MacBook’s screen. I was stunned.
