It looks better anyway
I’m an in-house designer at a local event promotions agency. We focus primarily on small bands and small theatre shows — not cool ones, but mostly the friends of my boss: blue grass, swing, kid’s theatre, everyone way old or way young. We stay in business because we’ve got two large contracts out and I’ll be surprised if the company lasts after those contracts expire.
I was given the responsibility to design a poster for one of these big clients for one of their largest shows in the state. Big venue, lots of people and a full-size color poster to go with it. I was excited to be given the responsibility: I still fairly green. I stayed late trying to make sure everything was perfect - twice I stayed over the weekend, tweaking it with my boss. Finally, after about two weeks of design and a week of edits (way too long, I know), it was ready to go to print. I had Friday off, so I made sure everything was settled on the Thursday.
Weeks later, I see the poster. And I shit you not: they had changed the main title text to Papyrus. Big, huge and glaring. Just like Avatar. I asked my boss what had happened and he said that he had to make a few changes to it before it went to print and that he didn’t have the correct font on his computer. He said that he thought it looked better anyway.
